Cannabist + Community
We’re taking a stand with the communities we serve and support
Supporting Community Change Makers
We have a higher calling to enhance people’s lives through cannabis and we want to support those who have their own higher calling. Cannabis is inextricably linked to social justice and its criminalization has caused decades of suffering to families and communities, especially Black and Latino Americans. We’re here to support any and all advocates who fight to undo these lasting effects.
We partner with organizations across the country, from supporting re-entry services to sponsoring local food drives.
Elevating Social Equity Cannabis Entrepreneurs
The rapidly expanding cannabis industry presents endless opportunities to uplift BIPOC- and social equity-owned businesses. In addition to supporting policies that ensure those most impacted by cannabis prohibition can now benefit from legalization, we’re committed to supporting diverse, inclusive plant-touching, ancillary, and accessory businesses.
Cannabist is building a robust supplier diversity program. By 2024, we will aim to devote a minimum of 25% of retail shelf space to social equity- and BIPOC-owned brands and work to ensure that at least 30% of our vendors come from underrepresented communities.
Cannabis is Medicine
It’s as simple as that. For far too many, this life-changing medicine is out of reach whether due to prohibition, high costs, or lingering stigma. Without insurance coverage to reduce costs, many patients are forced to turn to opioids, the illicit market, or continue suffering. Our mission is to make sure that we are serving any patient or customer who can benefit from access to cannabis and partner with like-minded organizations. We also have our own program, Share the Care, which subsidizes the cost of medicine for qualifying medical cannabis patients.
Share the Care will be expanded to all medical markets by 2022, pending regulatory approval.
